Race of the Year Stuff...

ROY.gifRace of the Year - Last week we checked on the Race of the Year voting and discovered several things. First of all, voting has been brisk and is on pace to break records. Secondly, forty-two events have received votes, which suggests that, as usual, approximately half of the multisport events in our state actively encourage their participants to vote for ROY.

We also leanred that there hasn't been any more obvious cheating this year than there has been in years past. But there hasn't been any less, either.

Catching cheating is fun, and easier than you might think, but we're not going to divulge all of our policing methods here....

Our favorite example of cheating this year is ridiculous and hilarious. We almost peed our pants. A guy voted 24 times for a certain race. He grossly misspelled the name of that event the same way each time. (That's how we knew it was a guy, not a girl.  Girls don't spell that poorly.) We wish we could share that misspelling with you. It's a hoot.

It was therefore easy for us to subtract 23 votes from that event's current total. Interestingly, even with the subtraction, that race is currently among the Top 5 vote getters.

The offical Top 5 will be posted here on October 27, so if you haven't voted, we encourage you to do so at your earliest opportunity by clicking on one of the VOTE icons on the right side of the homepage. And please don't cheat, okay? If you do, the chances are good that we'll catch it.
