thadMinnesota Multisport Awards - Here are the official nominees for Male-Most Improved:

Thaddeus Ingersoll (43, St. Paul - photo L)

Thad had a great season in 2011 and an abbreviated season in 2012. In 2013, he had a breakout year, his most successful ever. His highlights included amateur wins at Life Time Tri-Chicago and Chisago Sprint. He also finished 2nd overall at Rev 3-Wisconsin Dells Olympic, 3rd at Croixathlon and 5th at RochesterFest Olympic....

 

guysBrendon O'Flanagan (34, St. Paul)

Like Thad, Brendon had his best racing year ever in 2013, a season that featured wins at Shell Lake and Fall Classic Duathlon, and 2nd place efforts at Timberman, Manitou and St. Croix Valley Sprint. He also cracked the Top 5 at New Bri and LIberty Half (4:19:09).

Brian Sames (26, Shakopee)

Rookie of the Year Runner-up in 2012, Brian took his place among our state's elite this season. He raced 14 times, winning six races and placing in the Top 5 in three others. He surprised his Minnesota peers at Chisago by finishing 4th overall / 2nd amateur at Chisago (4:16:17).

Ross Weinzierl (28, Waconia)

2013 was truly a breakout year for Ross. In nine starts, he placed 2nd three times and 3rd on one occasion. He never finished lower than 8th overall.

As with most MMA categories, the selectors were not unanimous in their choices. Narrowily missing a nomination was David Phillips. Others receiving consideration included Philip English, Mike Buenting, David Lewis, Joe Johnson, Andy Wiberg, Luke Nelson, Brad Sipley and Andrew Zabel.
