Performance of the Year - Michelle Andres rewrote amateur history at Ironman Wisconsin. Ruth Brennan Morrey established herself as arguably America's premier amateur female 70.3 racer. Cathy Yndestad's sixth career victory at LTF Tri-Mpls Elite, was, like Michelle's and Ruther's nominated performances, unequivocally HUMONGOUS.
These are the women whose world class performances received official POY nominations:
MICHELLE ANDRES, 34, East Gull Lake - 1st amateur @ Ironman Wisconsin - 10:05:30 - Amateur CR...
RUTH BRENNAN MORREY, 37, ROCHESTER - 1st overall @ Chisago Lakes Half IM - CR - 4:25:55
RUTH BRENNAN MORREY, 37, Rochester - 1st @ Apple Duathlon - CR - 1:30:26
CATHY YNDESTAD, 34, Rosemount - 1st Elite Amateur @ Life Time Tri - Minneapolis Elite
FYI - Brenna Morrey's victories at Rev 3 - Wisconsin Dells and Pays D'Aix 70.3 received serious consideration also. As did Yndestad's pioneering effort at Life Time Tri - Leadman Epic 250 - Bend and her victory at Minneman in the fastest Olympic distance time by a Minnesota woman this year (2:08:21).
