Official POY Nominees: Men...

ppPerformance of the

The Committee had hoped to nominate five performances, but the 2-performance-maximum rule got in the way. Matthew Payne's amateur win at Florida 70.3 had initially received enough support to be nominated. Then two issues arose. First was the suggestion that Dan Hedgecock's amateur win at Chisago in the fastest 70.3 (amateur) time (4:06) by a Minnesotan this season, matched or trumped Payne's performance. Next, Patrick danParish won the amateur title at a late-season half (Super Frog), which may have either matched or nullified Payne's performance. Interestingly, neither Hedge's nor PP's half efforts, by rule, could be nominated because both men had two nominated performances already, efforts that were perceived by the Committee as carrying more "National" significance.

Here are the official nominations for Performance of the Year by a Minnesota male:

DAN HEDGECOCK, 25, Minneapolis - 1st @ Hy-Vee 515- Elite Championship - CR
