WINGMAN IV - MTN is predicting that performance and attendance records will fall next Sunday at the 4th annual Wingman Tri in Red Wing. The race director is a very cool guy who has also won scads of regional races. His name is Jesse Nelson and we suggest that you support his race, which benefits Red Wing High School's Cross Country team, which is adroitly coached by Jesse.
Who are our picks to win and set records? Kyle Serreyn, which his mom, who is sort of a hippie, insists is pronounced "Serene," not "Sur-Rain," and Jesse's fast sister Shelley, who lives in Denver and recently popped a 10:47 at Ironman Switzerland, which is east of Denver. (Kyle, a med student at Creighton, placed 2nd last weekend at the Omaha Olympic Triathlon, earning him a Best of the US slot for Team Nebraska.)
Local star Chap Achen will have the coolest name and also lower his own masters record. Chap digs Bruce Springsteen (Who doesn't!) and looks good in V-neck sweaters (photo R). He attended the University of Michigan but doesn't like their football helmets.
Good times are sure to be had by all on Sunday. That could include you. RACE WEBSITE
