More Random Love...

In our quest to write about Minnesota triathletes who have yet to receive any of our cyber ink, we recently came across a couple of talented folks that we'd like to tell you about. The first is a 22-year-old guy named Joe Dalton. We hope that the guy in the photo (L) is our guy. There are lot of Joe Daltons on Facebook and we selected a dude who looked young and triathlete-like, and who also has cool floppy 60s-style hair and lives in Minneapolis.

We are totally impressed with this guy's academic credentials. He undergradded at a cool little university in Michigan called Ferris State, which was NOT named for the Matthew Broderick character, Ferris Bueller. He recently finished a masters program at the U, where he studied complex molecular biological stuff, like genomes, and nucleotides and stem cells....

As we said earlier, we sure hope that this guy is the Joe Dalton who enjoyed a successful 2011 triathlon season. With respect to Joe's competitive resume, here's what our digging uncovered:

- 3rd @ One Last Tri (Behind Balabuck and Janicki!); 6th @ Lake Marion Olympic; 7th @ St. Croix Valley Olympic; 9th @ Chaska. Well done, Joe!

The other heretofore unwritten-about athlete highlighted here is 29-year-old Rachael Vaubel of Rochester (photos l & below). Her Facebook page doesn't tell us too much. She might be a doctor. We hope she is because that would be cool. We do know that she has a great smile, looks great in glasses and enjoys playing dress-up with her friends, most of whom are shorter than she is. Like her dear friend, #3242, Rachael seems to have a thing for tutus and cool long socks.
