2025 OLT Stuff...

Before we began composing our SQUARE LAKE coverage, we contacted JUDI, requesting a list of next weekend's ONE LAST TRI registrants. Along with that spreadsheet, she sent us some great words that we happily include here, with her permission.

As of right now we have 52 newbies (OLT). We had 73 at Square Lake Sprint. I am loving these numbers and hoping we can convert more than half of them to come again. The 70.3 was an interesting mix of weather - we had hail in the afternoon. Those poor runners were amazing. I love triathletes and their perseverance. There was definitely a wind factor on the bike - we were noticing some slower bike times as a result...

ED. - The 138 entrant 70.3 was won by ANDY WIBERG (4:40:59) and Indiana triathlete JORDYN BLOODE (photo), whose 5:06:58 was remarkable given the inhospitable conditions.

The U of MN is expecting to send 30 athletes to the race this weekend. So far 7 have registered. Iowa has confirmed they are on board for next year for a showdown which I am super excited about.

I am going to be adding a couple of swim/run events - not races - just an opportunity for athletes to train with others and especially good for newbies to get a sense of how it will feel to swim with others before their race. I would love your help in promoting these. Location will be at Lake Johanna (Tomy Schmidt Park) in Arden Hills. Do you have any suggestions on a great night of the week? I am thinking of having these take place in early June (2 sessions). They would be chip timed. What are your thoughts?

ED. We encourage readers to share their thoughs about the Swim/Runs on MTN's and/or Midwest Multisport Races Facebook pages.

We were not surprised to learn that elite junior KYLER WILLIAMS, 17, from Zimmerman was the men's winner. His podum effort at Olympic Nationals and his 7th place finish at Buffalo Olympic suggested that winning was in his future.

Kyler was joined in the Winners Circle by LEAH HASSLER, an accomplished tri veteran who also has great taste in music and literature. According to her Facebook page, oves Beyonce and and enthusiastically recommends "The Catcher in the Rye."

One hundred and fifty-six athletes entered this years Square Lake Sprint, and approximately 250 are evected to collect at scenic White Bear Lake Country Park next Sunday. RACE WEBSITE
