Today, we’re revealing our three nominees for the Women’s Most Improved honor. We assess improvement from last season to this season, and a large factor we assess is improvement relative to Team Minnesota positioning. For example, an athlete may be nominated if they had average results last season, but made a large jump towards having Team MN-level results this season. Likewise, an established Team MN athlete could be nominated if they improve their ranking by a few places, since absolute time gains are harder to achieve the faster you go. In alphabetical order, here are the three ladies who earned a nomination in 2025: ...
Adeline Althaus-Kotila, 16, Minneapolis:
Adeline has already been nominated for this season’s Junior of the Year honor. She won two races outright. In the two races she did in both 2024 and 2025 (Lake Rebecca and Maple Grove Sprint), she went almost two and a half minutes and four minutes faster, respectively.
Amy Preusser, 27, Melrose:
Amy races prolifically, which we love! She took a step forward this year, winning three races and placing 2nd at two others. Notably, she was roughly eight minutes faster at Green Lake Olympic than her 2024 clocking.
Paige Schulz, 36, Minneapolis:
Paige had very solid results in 2024, but her performances in 2025 went stratospheric, and will likely earn her a Triathlete of the Year nomination. She broke out of the 4:40s in 70.3, including a win at 70.3 WI in 4:34:48, and popped a 9:43 at Ironman Chattanooga.
