Race Preview - Minneapolisians Dan Hedgecock and Claire Bootsma will make their pro duathlon debuts on Saturday at Powerman Alabama, which is staged at Oak Mountain State Park near Birmingham. The event consists of a 10K run, 40K bike and 5K run and serves as the 2012 USAT Elite Duathlon National Championship. A prize purse totaling $10,000 will be distributed among the Top 5 male and female finishers.
Can Dan and Claire pocket some cash this weekend? We hope so. We know, as they do, that it won't be easy, though. They will be facing seasoned elite du vets, including St. Paul's David Thompson, who is a three-time PMAL champ. And yes, it wouldn't surprise us if DKT took home the biggest check on Saturday. But even for him, as we said earlier in this paragraph, it won't be easy....

ED. I few days ago we were contacted by Brett at Gear West Bike & Triathlon, Bill from the GraniteMan Endurance Series and Mike from Superior Man. We are happy to share their exciting news.
Hey MTN Guys,
Could you please announce that we will be holding our annual Gear West University on March 18th from 7 am - 11 am? The day will consist of 4, 50 minute class "periods" with an optional 25 minute class at the end. It is a great way for both elite and brand new multisport athletes to pick-up new knowledge on training, injury prevention, and "buying" free speed without spending a ton of money. Howdy. Just wanted to feed you a few nuggets ..... Trinona is working with TRIA and Gear West to offer a TRIATHLON 101 Clinic on March 31. It is FREE but folks must RSVP, as space is limited. It takes place at TRIA Othopaedic in Bloomington from 9:00am to 12:30pm on Saturday, March 31. There will be a lot of great content for any newbies interested in learning more about the sport - and walking away with a few door prizes....
