A Guiness Book attempt for a good cause

"No one should drown in Minnesota," says Race Director Dr. Brett Oden and he couldn't possibly be more right. But of course they occasionally do. In fact Buffalo Lake was the site of an incident last summer in which two non-swimming parents lost control of their boat during launch, setting adrift their also non-swimming 4-year-old and leaving themselves entirely incapable of retrieving their exceedingly frightened child. Fortunately a member of Minnesota's own triathlon community [who shall remain nameless until we get

Weekend Racing Highlights....

danTwas a huge weekend for Minnesota multisporters. Check out the storylines:

* Minneapolis' Dan Hedgecock (photo L) was the overall amateur winner at St. Anthony's Triathlon in Florida today. His 1:53:15 is the fourth-fastest time in the 29 year history of the race. Following Dan's stellar 2011 season, today's performance is a powerful predictor--Dan just may be the nation's top amateur triathlete this year. More story to follow. Results

2012 Race Registration Updates...

blDid you hope to get into the Northwoods Triathlon this year? We hope not. It's already full.

Yup, for the second straight, consecutive, back-to-back year in a row, the Nevis-based Tri Minnesota Series race has filled faster than its 80+ Minnesota multisport counterparts. Way to go, Northwoods! Guess this means that you'll never advertise on MTN, huh?...

Goodbye Denny...

dennyBy Nick Morales

The Minnesota Triathlon community lost a great friend, supporter, athlete and photographer yesterday. What a GREAT guy Denny Johnson was; if he wasn't racing he'd be there cheering people on or taking pictures. His unselfishness, love for the sport and friends was demonstrated one last time about a month ago in Boulder when he decided to cheer on friends who where racing while on vacation. Unfortunately Denny didn't make it to the race because of his bike accident but he was there in spirit in the hearts of those racing, cheering and taking pictures that day. I had the great pleasure to meet him, know him, train with him and take pictures with him... What a sad day it will be the next time a Minnesota Triathlon takes place, not seeing Denny there doing something amazing!

I will miss ya my friend and photo buddy...

We close registration to,Oreos for the green lake triathlon. Could you please send out one more reminder for me. - Dave

Our reply was: "Huh?"

To which he responded:

Oops. That must have been a auto correction to my sloppy typing skills. Closing registration to Oreos would get me in lots of trouble.

Closing registration tomorrow (Wednesday) for the green lake tri....
